Moonlight Angel

This started out as a "just messing around" piece, when I decided to see what would happen to the photograph when I added a layer of light and color on top and blended and erased and brushed over it. And then another, and then really started playing in earnest. And actually, this is the sixth incarnation of this particular work.

The first background with the circles of light is from: [link] ; unfortunately, the one with the ribbons of light is a stock item I've had saved for quite awhile and I no longer remember where I got it from. The quote is Gackt's; it was something he said on Twitter several months ago and I thought it perfectly fit what I wanted to say on this particular piece. I've been collecting profound, funny, and simply beautiful things he's said for some time now for a separate scrapbook project that I may or may not share here at some point in the future.

This piece is very meaningful to me on a personal level. He's been my rock when I've needed it, my escape when I've needed it. He's helped to make me stronger as a person and ultimately, I think, better, for having him in my life. He's personally been a sort of guardian angel to me. I literally pour my heart and soul and my love for Gackt into my artwork, and I hope it shows, because it's always, always for him.

Also, a special thanks to my awesome friends, and for all your feedback and support and thoughts on this one. Normally, I don't show works in progress, but since I had so many variations it helped to have input and ideas this time out. Usually the four of us were supposed to be working (or one day, I was supposed to be sick in bed) so I appreciate the time and patience they all took to look at the same picture of Gackt over and over and offer suggestions. Thank you too, to you three for putting up with my overt fangirliness on a daily basis.
