Shinto Wedding Procession

Meiji Shrine, Tokyo.

We hadn't been here very long, and ironically our guide was explaining all about the Shinto religion and the fact that many weddings were held at the shrine, when this procession entered the grounds to go to the wedding ceremony. You can't plan perfect moments like that.

A bit later, in another area of the shrine, we saw a just married bride and groom in kimono having pictures taken; the bride had changed out of her white one such as this one into a very colorful and stunning one. Later on, we were told, they usually change into Western style clothing for their reception.
