The Perfect Bite

I wish I'd taken more photos early on of my food in Japan. Everything was so pretty, you didn't want to eat it without documenting it first. Even basic things like pancakes were served so magazine-worthy-ready, it was unbelievable.

This was part of lunch after going to Mt. Fuji. These bowls were stacked one on top of the other in a gourd shape; as you took off each subsequent layer it was like opening a Christmas present to find out what treat awaited you inside. What was funny was, my dad and I were sharing a table with a couple from Australia and two guys from America, and when they brought these trays, myself and the other American dudes immediately whipped out our cameras and photographed each layer of our meal.

Ironically I am not a huge sashimi eater but nothing beats fresh, raw fish in Japan. Later that night in Hakone I would have what was probably the best sashimi I had ever eaten in my life in this small rustic hotel we stayed overnight at.
